Our First Footwork (slideshow added)

The weather didn’t cooperate, but the first annual Footwork for CJD held in Fairmont, W.Va. went very well. We had approximately 60 people take part in the memorial walk. When we have the final numbers, we will release the amount of money raised from pledges, donations and raffle ticket sales. We will also provide photos from the event. If you have photos that you would like to share, please get them to Nikki or Pat.

In the meantime, we would like to thank the following for their donations for raffles and door prizes: Fairmont State Intramurals (Tina Mascaro), Dianna Glassman, Las Trancas, Fairmont State Athletic Department and Athletic Association (Rusty Elliott), Roxann Humbert, Craft Connection, Lisa Altman, the CJD Foundation, Alderson Broaddus College, Fairmont State Softball (Rick Wade), Anessa Griffith, Lizzie’s Attic, Bev and Bob Jolliff, Riffle Pottery, and Fairmont State Basketball (Tim Murphy).

Also, we would like to thank Presort Plus for making copies, Pepsi for donating our banner, Dave and Vickie Bland for supplying us with coffee, Dalene Horner for making signs and helping with organization, and Adam Zundell for helping with press releases and taking pictures. Sony also made a very generous monetary donation to the CJD Foundation.

There are many others to thank and hopefully we are able to thank everyone individually. Many bought tickets, solicited pledges and made donations. Please accept the sincere thanks of our family to all who had a hand in the success of the event.

Mayoral Proclamation

We requested a number of local municipalities proclaim November 12 International CJD Awareness Day. Bridgeport mayor James Christie called Nikki and invited us to their city council meeting last evening. Dad, Nikki, Pat and Amy went to the meeting to represent the family and were presented with a Mayoral Proclamation. We plan to frame the proclamation and display it at the walk Saturday. Clarksburg city manager, Martin Howe also indicated that Clarksburg has similar plans.

CJD Walk Saturday

The “Footwork for CJD” Memorial Walk is quickly approaching. We have been working hard in preparing for the event and are now in the home stretch. We’ve sold tickets, received pledges and been given items to raffle, but still have some work left to do. As each week passes, we have been excited to see that many people are chipping in with their time and resources and we will be able to make a fine donation to the CJD Foundation.

Please join us for the event. If you are interested, please contact us at curecjd@gmail.com.
